Following the introductions, we will “break-out” attendees into groups that will be moderated by our four industry experts. Following the break-outs, we will report back on best practices to the entire group.

Mary Maloney, FACHE (Moderator) – Principal Brand Strategist at Revealing Genius, LLC
An executive advisor, educator, speaker, author and producer, Mary E. Maloney, FACHE, is the founder of Revealing Genius and the expert that accomplished leaders trust for positioning, messaging and brand strategy for themselves, their teams and their organizations. A former CEO and CMO, Maloney guides healthcare C-suite leaders, founders, physicians and board directors to powerfully and strategically message their expertise and “why” so they lead with conviction and achieve their most coveted goals. She is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), one of only ~8,000 in the world to earn the credential, the benchmark for board certification in healthcare management.

Alex Maiersperger (Elevator Pitch)– Global Principal, Healthcare at SAS and Co-Founder of the Advancement League
Alex Maiersperger leads Global Product Marketing for Health Care at SAS, and previously led strategy and consumer experience goals at Blue Cross NC and Geisinger Health Plan. He believes we need to do a better job investing in both health and healthcare as a society, and his global role has helped him learn how much we have to “steal” from the rest of the world when it comes to our overall health. He started his career as an Administrative Fellow at Geisinger, and was a Lassonde Entrepreneur Fellow at the University of Utah, helping launch the now leading telehealth solution, Doxy.Me. Alex cofounded the Young Health Leader Summit, bringing together thousands of early career and executive talent the last six years.
Chloe Thompson, MHSc (Interviewing) – Corporate Healthcare Recruiter at Lee Health
Hailing from the east coast of Florida, Chloe began her journey in healthcare administration through her undergraduate studies at Florida Gulf Coast University. She fell into the Healthcare Recruitment by sheer accident after completing a post-baccalaureate internship with Lee Health to prepare for her graduate studies and has remained with the organization ever since. Throughout her tenure at Lee Health, she served on teams to coordinate the Nurse Residency Programs, worked on workforce planning and development initiatives throughout SWFL, and as of present, is one of the organization’s only Corporate Healthcare Recruiters. She has since completed her Master’s Degree in Health Science from Florida Gulf Coast University and has plans to become an Adjunct Professor in upcoming semesters.
Nicole Radford, FACHE (Cover Letters)- Vice President of Laboratory Services at Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute
Nicole Radford is the VP of Laboratory Services at Florida Cancer Specialists and Research Institute. She is responsible for the laboratory testing and operations provided at Florida Cancer Specialists’ network of clinics, as well as the operations of the 20,000 square foot Central Laboratory in Fort Myers. In addition to her professional duties, Nicole is a Director-at-Large for the ACHE WFC Chapter and the Regent-at-Large for ACHE’s District 2.
She describes herself as an “ACHE-fanatic”, and believes not only in the power and advantages of ACHE membership, but also that everyone plays a part in making ACHE the great professional organization that it is. Prior to moving from Northern Illinois, Nicole was very active in volunteer service to ACHE, including being a member of the D&I committee (2016-2021), the chair of the Education Committee (2017-2021), and a Director (2019-2021) for the Central IL ACHE chapter. She also served as Regent of Central and Southern Illinois from 2020-2022, and was a judge for the 2023 Richard J. Stull Essay competition. She was honored to be named a Thomas C. Dolan Executive Diversity Program Scholar in 2018, became an ACHE Fellow in 2019, and won an ACHE Service Award In 2022.
Nicole has over 25 years of healthcare experience, with most of her experience being in Laboratory Medicine. She has had the opportunity to speak at several events on topics around operational efficiencies and DEI initiatives and concepts. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences from Illinois State University, and a Master’s degree in Health Services Administration from University of St. Francis (Joliet,IL). She and her husband live in Fort Myers, and she’s the proud mom of 2 adult children.
Karen Valatis Ed.D (Resumes vs. CVs) – Clinical Assistant Profressor, Health Sciences and Administration, University of West Florida
Karen Valaitis is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of West Florida (UWF) teaching in both the undergraduate and graduate level programs in healthcare administration. She teaches courses such as Understanding U.S. Health Care, Health Care Administration, Medical Terminology, Strategic Planning in Healthcare, Quality Improvement in Healthcare, Healthcare Delivery Systems, and the MHA Capstone. Dr. Valaitis gained healthcare management and practice experience at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio, where she worked for 20 years. At the Cleveland Clinic, she worked as the administrator for cardiovascular research, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, and neurology. Later, she became the commercialization officer for neurosurgery and neurology, overseeing the department’s intellectual property portfolio. Before coming to UWF, she also worked in healthcare administration at the Ohio State University Medical Center and in executive search for health care programs in higher education. She is certified as a Quality Matters online Instructor and is a Master Reviewer with the Quality Matters Program. Dr. Valaitis earned a bachelor’s degree in science (BS) from The Ohio State University, a master’s in business administration (MBA) from Cleveland State University, and a doctorate degree in education (Ed.D.) from the University of West Florida.
How to Secure Qualifiying Education Credit Hours:
As an independent chartered chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the ACHE Western Florida Chapter, is authorized to award a total of 1.5 hours of ACHE Qualifying Education credits toward advancement or recertification in the American College of Healthcare Executives. Participants in this program who wish to have it considered for ACHE Qualifying Education credit should list their attendance when they apply to the American College of Healthcare Executives for advancement or recertification.
