SUMMARY:Crisis Management: Strategies to Effectively Manage a Healthcare Organization

In the event of a crisis\, the quality and efficiency of care delivery may be challenged\, which takes a toll on every part of the organization. Healthcare leaders must understand how to prepare their organization for unforeseen circumstances by developing a communication plan\, managing organizational resources\, and leveraging local and state resources and funding. The engaging panel discussion will provide insight on tools to manage an unforeseen crisis within a healthcare organization. \nAgenda \n11:00 -11:10 – Event & speaker introduction \n11:10 -12:15 – Speakers Present \n12:15 – 12:30 – Speaker Q & A \n  \nQualified Education Credits: 1.5 \nAs an independent chartered chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives\, the West Florida Chapter\, is authorized to award a total of 1.5 hours of ACHE Qualified Education credits toward advancement or recertification in the American College of Healthcare Executives. Participants in this program who wish to have it considered for ACHE Qualified Education credit should list their attendance when they apply to the American College of Healthcare Executives for advancement or recertification. \n  \nGloria Graham \nGloria Graham’s law enforcement and public safety career has spanned more than 27 years. She is currently the System Director for Public Safety\, Emergency Management and PBX Operations for Lee Health System in southwest Florida. Lee Health is a non-profit\, public health system with nearly 90 practice locations\, 4 acute care hospitals and 2 specialty hospitals with 1\,812 hospital beds\, more than 16\,000 employees\, 4\,500 volunteers\, and over 830 employed primary care and specialty care providers. \nPrior to joining Lee Health she served as the inaugural Associate Vice President for Safety and Security at the University of Virginia after the violent Unite the Right rally of 2017. In 2010\, she was appointed Chief of Police at the University of Tennessee\, Knoxville. Graham also served as Assistant Vice President and Deputy Chief of Police at Northwestern University\, the University of Chicago and Duke University Police Department. She began her law enforcement career in her home state of Indiana in 1995. \nGloria earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice studies from North Carolina Wesleyan University and a master’s degree in leadership development from St. Mary of the Woods College. She is a 2012 graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command\, a 2018 graduate of the University of Southern California Race and Equity Institute\, and is an IAHSS Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator and ASIS Certified Protection Professional. Gloria is currently appointed to the Lee County School District Equity and Diversity Advisory Committee\, the Pace Lee Center for Girls Board of Directors\, and the ASIS Healthcare Steering Committee. \n  \nDr. Scott Nygaard \nDr. Scott Nygaard serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Lee Health. He is responsible for the operations and strategy of the health system\, which include: 4 Adult Acute Care Hospitals- totaling 1624 beds\, Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida (172 beds)\, a rehabilitation hospital\, Post-Acute Services- including DME\, SNF\, SNU\, HH\, home infusion\, nursing functions\, patient safety and quality for the system\, Lee Physician Group\, a 1000 provider\, multispecialty group practice; as well as Outpatient Services (lab\, imaging\, wound care\, sleep lab\, rehabilitation services) and The Center for Care Transformation (Medicaid PSN\, NexGen ACO\, BPCI\, CIN)\, and LH Strategy. \n  \nFrank Morgan \nFrank Morgan is the Vice President of Ambulatory Services for Sarasota Memorial Health Care System and oversees the Health System’s extensive network of outpatient campuses and urgent care centers that stretch from Manatee County to North Port. Frank also is responsible for outpatient growth strategy and developing new centers of care to support health needs throughout the region. Frank began his career at SMH in 2002 as an Administrative Fellow. Upon completing the two-year program\, he was selected to serve in a leadership position in Ambulatory Services\, where he assisted in the expansion of the organization’s Ambulatory network while taking on increasing roles and responsibilities. He graduated from the University of Missouri with a Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration in 2002 and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance and also serves as a volunteer youth football and track coach. \n  \nDr. Laura Arline \nDr. Laura Arline is Vice President/Chief Quality Officer of BayCare Health System\, a large not-for-profit healthcare system located in the Tampa Bay region of Florida. Dr. Arline oversees BayCare’s Quality\, Safety\, Regulatory\, Infection Prevention & Control\, and Clinical Documentation Integrity programs. She has been a part of the BayCare Health System team for 16 years\, practicing internal medicine and pediatrics and serving in various quality and patient safety roles until she transitioned into a full-time quality administrative position in 2018. Dr. Arline has a passion for clinical excellence and is a strong believer in the quest toward zero harm.
