Tamiami Trail\, Sarasota\, FL. \nClick here to complete your registration! \nEvent Description:\nToday\, most industries in the United States are finding new ways of becoming more environmentally sustainable to cut costs and/or fulfill their corporate citizenship missions. Although hospitals and other healthcare organizations are conscious of these efforts\, they face the unique challenges of round-the-clock operations\, hazardous waste management\, large-scale staffing and extreme energy consumption. Healthcare leaders are aware of the role their organizations play in the community\, but sometimes are unsure how they can make the business case for going green to their board or staff. By learning from peers\, this session will address the myriad ways to change the culture of the organization; cut operating costs and improve staff recruitment\, retention and patient satisfaction; and gain visibility and credibility within the community as an exemplar for environmental sustainability. \nTopics for Discussion Include:\n\n\n\n\n\nMaking the business case for going green in terms of the bottom line/financials and long-term return on investment\, staff satisfaction\, and increased customer base.\nThe progress hospitals have made in their green efforts\, as well as how they have leveraged partnerships with outside organizations to put a sustainability plan in action.\nOperational strategies that will allow healthcare organizations to be more successful in sustainability. Training for staff and the organization to embrace sustainability.\nHow becoming more sustainable is part of the larger mission of healthcare and how it is related to your community relations mission\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAgenda:\n5:00pm – 5:30pm: Networking and Dinner \n5:30pm – 7:00pm: Programming \nSpeakers:\nLaura Stillman – Moderator\nA 30-year veteran and healthcare partner\, Laura excels at leading projects\, managing practice areas\, and providing strategic planning. As Healthcare Practice Leader\, Laura oversees Flad’s health care group and serves as principal-in-charge for major healthcare projects\, most recently leading the design team for Lee Health’s new community hospital.  She is also involved in ongoing projects at UF Health and was on the planning and programming team for the new Oncology Tower and Venice Hospital for Sarasota Memorial Hospital. \nRandy Keiser-Panelist\n\n\n\nAs Senior Vice President and National Healthcare Director\, Randy Keiser is involved with Turner Construction’s major healthcare projects in North America. His 42-year career at Turner has been dedicated to hospital construction which encompasses over 250 projects and $3.5 billion annually. His leadership skills have helped Turner maintain the status of the #1 Healthcare CM in the U.S. for 22 of the past 25 years. Turner’s portfolio of sustainable hospital construction includes many industry leading projects including the first LEED Zero Energy certified healthcare facility\, the first standalone net zero designed greenfield hospital and one of the first net zero carbon facilities. \nRandy serves the healthcare design and construction industry through leadership roles for ASHE\, FGI Guidelines\, HCD advisory board\, Vanderbilt Healthcare Symposium Committee and others.\nRandy and his wife\, Gwen make their home in Nashville TN. \n\n\n\nBrad Pollitt\, AIA-Panelist\nSince joining UF Health Shands in 1989 Mr. Pollitt has served as Hospital Architect\, Director of Major Construction Projects\, Director of Facilities Planning\, and Director of Facilities Development.  In 2000 he was named Vice President of Facilities with responsibilities for core services including strategic facility planning\, construction\, facilities operations\, real estate\, environment of care\, safety\, security and transportation serving the UF Health Hospital System.  During his tenure\, UF Health has seen the development of over $3 billion of construction\, renovation and capital improvement to enhance the operations and quality of over 5.5 million sf of UF Health facilities. \nMr. Pollitt has lectured on facility management topics at the American Society of Healthcare Engineers\, and other numerous healthcare forums.  In addition he has provided educational instruction at the University of Florida College of Engineering as a guest lecturer on facility process and quality improvement in facilities management. \nMr. Pollitt has a BA and an MA degree in Architecture from the University of Florida College of Architecture.  He is a licensed architect in the State of Florida\, is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards and is an active member of the American Institute of Architects Academy for Health.  Prior to joining Shands in 1989\, Mr. Pollitt worked as an architect in the fields of healthcare\, hospitality and historic preservation.
